The managing director of Derby and Ashbourne funeral directors G. Wathall & Son Ltd has been appointed to the board of Golden Charter – the UK’s leading provider of funeral plans in the UK.
Helen Wathall is one of three independent funeral directors and the only female director on the Golden Charter Board which is owned by the not-for-profit organisation, SAIF Charter, made up of members of the Society of Allied and independent Funeral Directors.
She explained: “It is a huge honour to be invited to join the board of Golden Charter which enables independent funeral directors such as ourselves to provide cost effective and high quality pre-payment funeral plans.
“We are part of a network of 3,300 independent firms across the UK who are collectively responsible for a marketing leading 42% of all funeral plans sold through Golden Charter.
“For G.Wathall and Son, it is an important part of our later life service for local families which also includes a comprehensive range of legal services such as will writing, Power of Attorney, Probate and Asset Protection.
“Our aim is to enable people better plan for their later life and raise awareness of the simple steps that can be taken to make their end of life experience better, both for themselves and for their loved ones.”
Helen continued that more than half a million people had trusted Golden Charter to take care of their funeral arrangements since it was launched in 1990.
In recognition of this significant growth, Golden Charter made it onto this year’s prestigious Sunday Times Virgin Fast Track 100 league table for the second consecutive year.
