Charity Easter Egg Collection

Yet again, the generosity of local Derby residents and businesses has been “Eggs-traordinary”!   The Charity Easter Egg collection co-ordinated annually by local family funeral firm, G.Wathall & Son Ltd, added up to an amazing 181 chocolate eggs for Rainbows Hospice. Easter eggs were donated by the retailers, traders and people of Derby and special thanks go to Frank Woodhouse and other traders at Derby Eagle Market who helped with the initiative again this year.

Paula North of Rainbows Hospice went along to Wathall’s Funeral Directors in Macklin Street, Derby to collect all the Easter Eggs. Paula explained that Rainbows is the only hospice for children and young people in the East Midlands. The hospice is a place where life-limited children and their families can find care and support. The incredible team of people at Rainbows help relieve symptoms, improve quality of life, support parents and siblings through their bereavements and care for children until the end.

Helen Wathall, managing director of G.Wathall & Son Ltd said “This year’s Easter Egg collection has seen another fantastic response and having so many chocolate eggs to donate to Rainbows helps us to reach so many more children. I know we couldn’t do this without the generosity of people in Derby and surrounding areas and I’m sure just like everyone else, the children at Rainbows will enjoy eating all that chocolate this Easter !”
